Skyworth SK-D849N will slow down after a period of time, solve the idea

Skyworth SK-D849N is an operator's customized optical cat, which is used as an AP after bridging, and the gigabit port rate will drop from 1000 Mb to about 180 Mb overnight, and it can be restored after rebooting or restoring the factory. For general AP speed drop troubleshooting experience, you can first put the particularity brought by the identity of "Lightcat-AP" in the first place, and then check according to the conventional wireless speed drop idea. You can find out what the problem is in the following order:

Skyworth SK-D849N will slow down after a period of time, solve the idea

  1. first eliminate the "optical cat + AP" firmware timing and slowdown mechanism
    1. log in to the background to see if the "energy saving/power saving" or "PON sleep" scheduled tasks are automatically triggered at night, and turn off if there is.
    2. truly set the WAN port as a "bridge" and turn off DHCP, UPnP, cloud management, and TR-069 remote configuration to prevent the local downsend configuration from locking the port rate to 100 M in the early morning.
    3. Upgrade or replace the original firmware. Operator versions often have a timed slowdown strategy, so you can try to flash the public/wireless routing firmware of the same chip, or simply treat the sk-D849N as a pure optical cat and add another hard AP.
  2. see if the ethermouth negotiation is crushed to 100 M
    1. record the speed before and after the speed drop in the "Status→ Ethernet port information", if it shows "100 M full duplex", it is basically a network cable/crystal head/peer switch port problem.
    2. replace a finished line of Class 5E or above, redo the crystal head, and ensure that the 8-core is fully accessible; The peer switch/router port forces 1000 M full-duplex and turns off energy-saving EEE.
  3. check whether the power supply voltage is stable
    try to replace a power supply, which can quickly determine whether it is the cause of the power supply.
  4. scan it again according to the conventional wireless idea
    1. put the light cat high, expose the antenna, and avoid metal blocking;
    2. The
      2.4 GHz channel is changed to 1/6/11 with the least interference, and the bandwidth is set to 20 MHz; 5 GHz channel 149 or above, bandwidth 80 MHz;
    3. turn off "wireless energy saving", "client isolation" and "WMM power saving";
    4. "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in the "Power Management" of the network card on the terminal side;
    5. If there is a cordless phone, microwave oven, or high-power Bluetooth nearby,
      stagger the location or change the 5 GHz frequency band.
  5. the number of connections/temperature
    log in to the background to see the number of online terminals at night, and add an AP for load balancing if it exceeds 15~20. Add a small fan to the optical cat, and the core temperature is higher than 70 °C and it is easy to slow down and restart.
  6. last resort
    flash the public version firmware after backing up the configuration, or directly retire the AP function of the sk-D849N - only let it be responsible for optoelectronic conversion, and install a real Gigabit router/AX series AP in the back, which can completely bypass the "midnight slowdown" logic in the operator's firmware.
can basically be positioned according to steps 1→2→3; If the port negotiation always maintains 1000 M and the wireless rate drops, focus on 4 or 5; if you really can't flash the firmware, use 6, once and for all.

The troubleshooting steps are very detailed, but the operation still has to change the wire, change the settings, and may have to flash the firmware, which is time-consuming and laborious.

It is recommended to first check whether the firmware has a timing reduction setting, turn off the energy-saving function, and confirm whether the network cable and port connection are normal.

To solve such problems, you need to first check whether the optical cat firmware has a timer reduction mechanism, and then check the network cable and port settings to avoid abnormal rates caused by operator policies.

This optical cat is indeed easy to slow down when used by APs, so it is recommended to prioritize checking firmware and timing tasks to avoid the impact of operator settings. Changing the thread and redoing the crystal head are also key steps, don't forget to turn off unnecessary functions.

When the AP does slow down seriously, it is recommended to directly replace the pure optical cat with an independent AP to avoid firmware restrictions and the impact of scheduled tasks, and the stability is better.

When the optical cat is slow down, it is really a headache, don't forget that the operator's firmware may have a hidden timing slowdown mechanism, restart or restore the factory to temporarily solve it, it is recommended to upgrade the firmware or use pure optical cat plus independent AP.

I tried to change the cable and it still slowed down, and I suspected that the firmware was hiding a slowdown back door.
