How to fix the IP of the device in Telecom Optical Mode? The printer and NAS cannot be found after restarting. The two steps in the Tianyi gateway are blocked.
Last week, my brother DCP-1618W went on strike again. The printing task is spinning around on the computer. When I go into the backend of the router, I see that the printer is automatically starting from 192.168.2.36 Jumped to 192.168.2.71 . This is not because the printer is broken, but because DHCP resends the address after the optical modem restarts, and the phone and tablet will actively reconnect. The old printer is still parked on the old IP, and of course the computer cannot find it.
I first manually filled in the fixed IP on the printer, but the problem occurred again within two days because the IP was assigned to the sweeping robot by DHCP. Later, I figured out that there is actually a serious entrance in Tianyi gateway, called static address allocation. Just tie the device MAC and IP together. This article uses my Tianyi gateway and Synology DS220+ together. A novice internet user can do it with just a few clicks.
Let’s first make it clear where to fix the IP.
There are two ways to fix IP. One is to fill it out on the device itself, such as entering the IP, mask, and gateway items in the printer control panel. ; The other is to perform DHCP static allocation in the optical modem or router and bind the device's MAC address to an IP. Every time the device asks for an address in the future, the optical modem will send the same one to it.
I suggest giving priority to the cat. The reason is simple: Many printers, cameras, and smart sockets do not have easy-to-use interfaces for manually filling in IP addresses, and mobile phones and tablets do not even allow you to fill in the IP addresses. If the device fills in the static IP by itself, it is easy to fill in the wrong gateway and DNS, or conflict with others. DHCP static allocation means that you click twice in the background, and the device does not need to be touched at all. It will be automatically assigned when the network is reconnected.
The premise is that your Tianyi gateway is still doing DHCP work. If the optical modem has been changed to a bridge connection and is connected to its own router, then you should go to the backend of the router to tie it up, and don't waste time on the optical modem. How to judge whether the optical modem is dialing or not? You can look at the router WAN port address. For internal network segments such as 192.168.xx, the optical modem is still dialing. I can make the relevant judgment in After changing the bridge in optical modem 192.168.2.1 Can't get in Wrote in.
Enter 192.168.2.1 , first recognize this device
Connect your computer or mobile phone to optical modem’s WiFi, and enter the browser 192.168.2.1 , the ordinary account is usually useradmin, and the password is on the sticker on the back of the optical modem. This can be done with an ordinary account, and there is no need to bother to get the super password. After entering, click "Terminal Device" or "Device Access", pull out all current devices, and find your printer or NAS.
Once you find it, do something serious first.: Copy the MAC address. The MAC is the string of 12 characters similar to 5C:85:7E:xx:xx:xx in the device list. For some machines, it is written as 5C-85-7E-xx-xx-xx. The printer can also print a network configuration page according to the panel. For NAS such as Synology, you can see the MAC in the "Information Center" of the control panel. Don't fill it in from memory. If you miss one digit, it won't be able to be tied.
If the printer is not in the device list at all, let it reconnect to WiFi first, or the computer may ping its old IP to wake it up, and then refresh the list. How to distinguish who is who when there are many devices? I am How does Tianyi gateway view connected devices and kick them out? As written in, you can match your name with your MAC.
To change the allocation range, first set aside a section for fixed equipment.
When I checked the backend, I found that Tianyi Gateway defaults to 192.168.2.2 arrive 192.168.2.254 The entire section is sent automatically by DHCP. Even if you tie one up 192.168.2.201 , it may also be sent to the mobile phone in advance, which is equivalent to free use. So the first cut is to change the distribution range and leave out the tail.
The entrance is in "Advanced Settings" → "LAN Settings" → "DHCP Server", where there is an IP address allocation range. I range from 192.168.2.2 arrive 192.168.2.200 , the following 201 to 254 are reserved for devices that need to be fixed, such as printers, NAS, and cameras. If there are not many fixed equipment at home, the range can be changed to .150, and .151 to .254 will be more generous.
| equipment | The fixed IP I left | illustrate |
|---|---|---|
| Brother DCP-1618W Printer | 192.168.2.201 | Just change it once in the computer's printing port. |
| Synology DS220+ | 192.168.2.202 | SMB mounting and web page login are more stable |
| Xiaomi camera | 192.168.2.203 | After reconnecting, it’s still the old address. |
Here is a place where novices are particularly likely to make mistakes.: The fixed IP must be 192.168.2.x, do not write it as 192.168.1.x. Some friends have only cats in their homes. 192.168.1.1 , the router uses 192.168.2.1 , the two network segments are mixed, and the device cannot find the gateway directly. What is the backend address you entered, and which network segment is used for the fixed IP.
When I tried it on my Tianyi gateway 3.0, the default allocation range was 192.168.2.2 arrive 192.168.2.254 , mask 255.255.255.0 , gateway 192.168.2.1 . Don't touch these, just cut off the tail of the range. If you really need to touch the gateway and DNS, it is something that novices should not mess with. If you change a wrong number, the whole family's equipment may go offline, so take a screenshot before starting. In some areas, the optical modem management address is 192.168.1.1 , the menu is similar to this, just change the IP number to 1.1.
Fill in the MAC and IP in the static address allocation
Once the range is saved, go back to the same menu and look for "Static Address Allocation". Some versions are called "IP and MAC Binding" or "DHCP Static IP Configuration". The path I have seen for the Huawei optical modem is "Network" → "LAN Configuration" → "DHCP Static IP Configuration"」 ; The ZTE system is under "Network" → "LAN" → "DHCP Server". The names are not unified, but if you look for the words "static" and "binding", you will not get far.
Click in and select Add, paste in the MAC you just copied, and then fill in an IP that falls in the reserved segment, for example 192.168.2.201 ,save. Some gateways will directly ask you to click on that device in the device list and check "Fixed IP", which is more trouble-free. Don't rush away after filling it out. Go back and take a look to see if the rule says "effective".
If your Tianyi gateway version is too old and there is only an address range in the menu and no static allocation, then you can only use stupid methods.: Reduce the DHCP range to .2 to .200, and then fill in the manual IP after .201 for the printer and NAS itself. This idea is How to log in to optical modem backend using mobile phone As mentioned in the article, modifications on mobile phones are more intuitive than on computers.
The mobile phone must turn off the random MAC, otherwise it will become invalid the next day after binding.
Printers and NAS are mostly wired or fixed MAC, so this is not a big problem. But if you have a fixed IP for your mobile phone or tablet, you must turn off the "random MAC". Now Apple and Android have private WiFi addresses by default. Every time you connect to a WiFi, you may change it to a fake MAC. The address you tied yesterday will no longer be recognized today.
In the iPhone's WiFi settings, click the i to the right of the network, find "Private Wireless LAN Address" and turn it off. ; For Android models, find "Privacy" or "Advanced" in WiFi settings and change it to use the device MAC. This does not only affect fixed IPs, but the same person appears two or three times in some device lists, which is also caused by it.
By the way, everything will not be alright after tying the IP. Before changing any backend configuration, make a backup copy of the original configuration, especially if you have already done port mapping and DMZ at home. If you mess it up, it will be very time-consuming to restore. Backup method I am How to export and backup the configuration file of Telecom Optical Mode As I wrote, it’s worth spending two minutes.
How to check and accept after modification?: Restart these three things and then adjust the IP
After saving the rules, restart the printer and NAS so that they can ask for addresses again. Wait two minutes, come back 192.168.2.1 Check the list of terminal devices to see if these two devices are firmly stuck at 201 and 202. Ping again on the computer: In Windows, press Win+R to enter cmd, press Enter and then type ping 192.168.2.201 -t , it will make sense if there is a reply. Open the NAS directly with a browser 192.168.2.202:5000 , as long as you can enter the backstage.
If it still jumps back to another IP after restarting, please sort according to the table below.:
| Phenomenon | most common reasons | what to do |
|---|---|---|
| It will not take effect at all after tying it | MAC copied the wrong digit | Copy it again, be careful not to mix 0 and O, 1 and l. |
| The fixed IP is always occupied by others | The address falls within the DHCP range | Reduce the scope of DHCP and put fixed IP in the reserved segment |
| The phone changed after I tied it up the next day | Still open random MAC | Use the device MAC instead and bind again. |
| Device shows IP conflict | The device manually filled in the old IP | Change the device back to automatic acquisition, and then bind it to the naked cat |
I finished it this time, and the most intuitive change is that printing no longer spins in circles, and the NAS SMB disk will not pop up "Network path not found" after restarting the computer. Fixed IP is not a metaphysics, it means that "who gets which address" is said in advance. First identify the device, then reserve a segment, bind the MAC, and accept it. Follow these four steps and you can basically do it in one go. If the menu names in the backend of optical modem don't match up, don't panic. Search around the words "LAN settings, DHCP, static allocation". Most of them are just different names.
